These 10,000 btu air conditioners are portable, have programmable timers up to 12 hours, and can be moved around on 4 caster easily. The ac units are narrow in width for those who want to save floor space. It is easiest to purchase several window kits (extra kits are sold below) with the ac unit, which allows for quick placement of the air conditioner in any room in need of cooling. Air conditioners include an adjustable window kit for venting to the outdoors - useful for double hung and sliding windows, in addition to a duct set with 5 ½ ft. exhaust hose. Hot air is exhausted through the vinyl exhaust hose that connects from the ac unit to a window panel or wall penetration accessory.

Portable air conditioners are best utilized as spot coolers or as a supplement to central air systems, also for the elderly who cannot lift or install a traditional window air conditioner. Spot coolers do not tear up woodwork or paint with their easy installation, and have vastly improved in effectiveness recently. Spot coolers are a healthier choice for those with allergies and asthma because these units sit indoors, and are not exposed to damp conditions, which can breed mold and mildew inside traditional window air conditioners.
