Impressed with the Bosch quality and performance, we decided to increase our Bosch offerings by adding the Formula Classic canister vacuum to our line up. Normally sold without HEPA filtration, we felt this vacuum and our customers deserve better so we have included a HEPA filter in each of our Formula Classic Vacuum Cleaner packages to offer only the best in allergen filtration.
Pluses:
- The turbo brush is very easy to maneuver and works great on low pile carpeting and area rugs.
- The HEPA filter coupled with Bosch’s quality design allows this vacuum to offer excellent filtration of allergens.
- This vacuum is very quiet to operate and the turbo brush does not add any additional noise.
- We liked the convenience of having the canisters carry handle double as a easy on/off power switch for the vacuum. This allows you to turn the vacuum on/off with a tap of your foot.
- The 3 vacuum cleaner accessory tools are easily accessible and neatly stored in a removable tray in an integrated compartment on the top of the canister.
- The Formula Classic canister easily glides over all floor surfaces thanks to the three rubber coated wheels with 360° swivel.
- Weighing only 12 lbs this vacuum is lightweight and easily carried up or down stairs with its large carry handle.
- Adjustable telescopic wand locks into place providing the operator a comfortable and secure operation.
- Dual parking spots for the floor tool makes for neat storage
- We liked the one step self sealing dust bag change system. The dust bag itself is impressive with its new pleated design, do not let its small appearance fool you – it is indeed a one gallon (4qt.) bag!
- All the Bosch HEPA vacuum cleaners meet the EN-1822 European government filtration standard which is the worlds most stringent HEPA filtration testing for true air quality.
- As always we like low maintenance products and this vacuum is - HEPA filter only needs to be changed once a year and the 1 gallon vacuum bags allows for multiple uses before needing to be changed.
- The filters and vacuum bag are very easy to access and can be changes in just seconds.
Minuses:
- We would have liked to have seen a protective rubber bump strip on the canister of this vacuum.
- The Formula Classic only is available with a standard operating handle which is not as comfortable to use as the deluxe handle found on the Bosch Formula Electro Duo Plus and the Premium Electro Duo.
- The Formula Classic vacuum does not have an electric wand so it can not be fitted with a power brush. If you are looking for a power brush check out the Bosch Formula Electro Duo Plus or the Premium Electro Duo.
Summary:
The Formula Classic vacuum cleaner is a good value for a mid sized canister vacuum with superior HEPA filtration and quiet operation. With the turbo brush as the only carpet tool, we recommend this vacuum for those who have a mix of bare flooring and low pile carpeting or area rugs. Paired with the hard floor brush and mini turbo brush in the Supreme Package, this vacuum covers a wide variety of cleaning needs.
