Pluses:
- Offers quiet operation: The 30 pint dehumidifiers keep the operating noise level quieter than a normal conversation, making them suitable for a bedroom.
- Durable: The rugged dehumidifier housing is composed of rust resistant metal
and plastic, a definite plus when using the units in very damp conditions.
- Worry-free Tank Control System: Automatically shuts off dehumidifiers if it detects that the water tank is full, improperly positioned or missing - has alert lights on control panel and a buzzer sounds on electronic models if the tank is misaligned. We think that this is one of the more important features to have in a dehumidifier since you will know that the tank will never run over, especially when on vacation or away from the home for long periods of time.
- Convenient continuous drain option: For those who would rather not empty a bucket, we like being able to connect a hose to a receptacle in the water tank.
- Easy to move: Roll dehumidifiers from room to room, thanks to 4 casters
- Easy-access, washable filter: It is simple to remove the filter without removing the bucket. These dehumidifiers filter the air by collecting large dust particles in front of the air intake grill, and in turn, this lengthens life of the dehumidifier and improves quality of the dehumidified air. We like that periodically washing the filter with warm water and mild detergent is all it takes to keep the air filter clean.
- Hose included: A 3 ft. continuous drainage hose is included with these dehumidifiers, which will allow the water to empty into a floor drain, or use the hose to connect with the external pump sold below.
- Continuous drainage option: the mechanical control panel has a continuous fan setting
- Has auto-restart after power outages: will automatically restart when power is restored
Minuses:
- The units have a small tank to hold water
- Manufacturer specifies that the units will dehumidify a 1600 sq. ft room, but we would suggest a 500 sq. ft. capacity
- Because of the rear loading bucket have to move unit away from wall to empty water if using bucket option
- No built in hand grips to make carrying the unit easier, a feature which we found useful in the 2003 models
- Dehumidifiers cannot be placed directly against a wall due to rear air intake. Need to place units at least 12” from the wall for proper air circulation since the unit pulls air in from the back of the unit and dry air comes out the front of the unit. We like the side air intake and outtake feature a bit more since it saves space in a small room.
- 30 pint model:
- Only available with mechanical controls instead of digital controls. All settings for humidity control and fan speed are manual.
- Not energy star rated

Humidity controller will accurately control the relative humidity in a room (choose between 20% to 70% in 5% increments) automatically by connecting to dehumidifiers or humidifiers, and powering these units on and off to maintain the desired humidity in a room.
Please Note: Your humidity goal should be 40-50%, and in most cases, the lowest humidity level reached will be 40%. If your unit already has an adjustable humidistat, turn it to the continuous setting if available, or to its highest (driest) setting.
