This vacuum has been said to "suck" and boy does it ever! All of our testers had the same response after using the DC17 Absolute Animal on their carpets: "I vacuum almost everyday and thought my floors were clean, but the dust bin revealed otherwise." The Root Cyclone™ suction power is one of the best we have tested. It sucks up surface dirt and pet hair and goes beyond to get all the deep embedded dust you can't see. The bagless dust bin was surprisingly neat and easy to empty. Though the DC17 is large and bulky it is easy to maneuver once in the reclined, in-use position. We like all the extra tools, especially the mini turbo brush for cleaning pet hair from the furniture and stairs. This vacuum is ideal for those who have wall to wall carpeting and an open floor plan in a single level home - you would not want to carry this Animal up or down stairs.
