Please note: This is a review of the Sanitaire System Pro S3686D. It is a real bargain and excellent value for money. Eureka has produced a HEPA vacuum cleaner with as many features as possible for a truly reasonable price.
Pluses:
- Economical and high quality hepa filtration: For the price, the SC3683 is a good compact vacuum for allergy sufferers, apartment dwellers, the elderly and college students.
- Compact and lightweight vacuum: This vacuum is just 10 lbs and despite its small size, it even has tools on board, which is a major accomplishment in a vacuum cleaner so small.
- Easy to change tools: We found the tools to be easy to change on the fly and were good quality for this price level vacuum cleaner. Includes a crevice tool, upholstery tool, and dusting brush.
- Convenient telescopic wand: The telescopic wand makes it easy to clean and reach above-floor surfaces.
- Good cleaning performance: Cleans bare floors very well.
- Good quality turbohead (option): The turbohead allows you to clean area rugs and low pile carpets well.
- Easy to carry: The large handle and unique carrying strap offers convenient mobility, especially when going up stairs.
- Balanced design: 2 large wheels makes the Sanitaire vacuum stable.
Minuses:
- Floor tool: The standard combination floor tool seemed to work ok, but could not handle carpets with any pile. We recommend purchasing the vacuum packaged with the turbohead below, which includes the vacuum with a well-made air driven brush roll useful for carpeting, stairs, and upholstery.
- Hepa filter: This machine has a replaceable hepa filter. If you prefer a vacuum with a washable hepa filter, see the Eureka Home Cleaning System or the Electrolux Oxygen line of vacuum cleaners.
Summary:
This vacuum offers a lot of high-end features. It would make a perfect apartment or college dorm vacuum cleaner, and its lightness is a boon for the elderly. Keep in mind that you do get what you pay for and this vacuum does not work as well as one of our top of line vacuum cleaners. On the other hand, if you pair it with the turbohead option the performance of this vacuum is improved quite dramatically.
