How it Works — Verilux Full Spectrum Light Boxes- Happy Lite Deluxe
Why would you need one of these Full Spectrum Lighting boxes? There are an estimated 35 million people who suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and related light disorders. SAD is a condition characterized by depression, withdrawal, sadness and gloom that occurs during the fall and winter months due to light deprivation. Brief morning exposure to the HappyLite can help reverse the negative effects of this light deprivation. This natural bright light stimulates the pineal gland which suppresses the secretion of melatonin, a sleep hormone commonly overproduced by those with SAD. The light blocks ultra violet and electromagnetic radiation and provides soothing glare free light.
Recommended daily exposure to the HappyLite, at a distance of 36" from the light, is approximately 2 hours. At a distance of 24" it is approximately 1 hour and at a distance of 12" it is approximately half hour.
