A new larger 4.76 quart fiber dust bag means fewer bag changes and more efficiency. The Miele Aquarius features sharp new Euro styling, a silence setting for the quietest vacuuming you have ever experienced, rubber bumpers to protect your furniture, and an extra long 29.5 foot vacuuming range. The S5’s Active HEPA filter coupled with its sealed system construction received certification from the DMT Air Quality Testing for “Excellent Air Quality”.
- Replaceable Dust bag: New larger capacity 4.76 qt G/N bag allows for longer use. Miele dust bags are part of the sealed system design ensuring excellent air quality, optimum performance of suction power and safe use of the full bag’s capacity thanks to the dust bag replacement indicator.
- Standard Floor tools: The Miele Aquarius S5580 comes with the Parquet floor brush with genuine horsehair bristles and 90 ° rotating head to gently clean smooth high polished floors.
- Optional Brushes: Choose either the Mid-sized Power brush model SEB 217-3 (10.5” wide brush roll) or the Full-sized Power brush model SEB 236 (13 3/8” wide brush roll). Both Power brush heads have a swivel neck for helpful maneuverability. The 217-3 is great for deep cleaning and restoring of crushed carpet nap on low to medium height pile carpets with moderate densities. Pluses:
- The Aquarius stands out from amongst the other S5’s because of its Automatic Suction Adjustment feature. The Aquarius demonstrates sophistication, automatically adjusting its suction level as you move throughout the house to fit the type of floor you are vacuuming!
- For those of us who like to have complete control over our suction adjustment, the Aquarius also has easy to use +/- foot controls on the canister for manual suction adjustment.
- New silence insulation make the Aquarius extra quiet, so go ahead and vacuum when the kids are sleeping!
- The Aquarius is great for allergy sufferers with its Sealed System construction and Active HEPA filtration trapping dust and other particles inside the vacuum cleaner.
- We enjoy the larger 4.76 qt. dust bag for its efficiency and longer use.
- The Aquarius takes care of itself alerting you with its dust bag and filter change indicators when it is time to replace a full bag or change a dirty filter.
- Miele has saved us a step in our vacuuming process by adding in an auto shut-off parking feature on the Aquarius. Just place the vacuum in the park position and it will automatically shut its self off as you leave to go do something else.
- The S5’s come standard with the new Parquet Floor brush, with a new improved swivel design which is most helpful when cleaning in hard to reach areas like under the bed. The Parquet Floor Brush has been redesigned with shorter natural bristles and spaces between the bristle sections to provide for maximum suction and longer life.
- The Aquarius can be purchased with either the mid-sized power brush for those of us with med-high pile carpeting and not a lot of pet hair, or the more robust full-sized power brush for carpets that need a deeper, more powerful cleaning.
- We like the sleek, lightweight design of the new S5 models for they are easily maneuvered and carried up or down stairs. The Aquarius weights about 13.5 lbs. not including a floor tool.
- The Aquarius has integrated rubber PVC bumpers along the front, back and sides which blend into the styling of the vacuum.
Minuses:
- No handy +/- finger tip controls and LED indicator located on the handle as found on the Capricorn.
- The S5’s are designed slightly larger and about 3 lbs. heavier then the original S4 Galaxy series.
Summary:
We expect the Aquarius to be very popular as it is the only model of the S5’s to have the automatic suction adjustment control feature. Along with the automatic suction adjustment feature, the Aquarius has many other user-friendly convenient features such as filter and dustbag change indicators, +/- foot controls for manual adjustment, automatic shut off feature when in the park position, and is available with the parquet floor brush and your choice of full or mid-sized power brush to match your floor cleaning needs. As with all the Miele S5’s, the Aquarius exhibits the quality design expected from Miele, with an Active HEPA filter, large and very efficient 4.76 qt. dust bag, sealed system design, silence insulation, integrated rubber PVC bumpers guards and ability to fit with multiple floor tools and accessories. Though slightly larger then the S4 Galaxy series, the S5’s are still easily maneuverable and at 13.5lb. easy to carry up stairs. With a parquet floor brush, your choice of power brush and on-board tools, the Aquarius is ready to get to work and clean your house.
