As our new humidifier line-up started rolling in one of our testers immediately eyed the MoistAir 6-Gallon Tower humidifier and enthusiastically took it home to try out. Her bedroom tends to turn into this dry uncomfortable area the minute the fall season just begins. However, it’s always a challenge to find a powerful humidifier that doesn’t take up a lot of space and isn’t bulky. The MoistAir 6-Gallon Tower humidifier provided powerful cool mist throughout the night while its design allowed her to tuck it neatly in the corner of the room.
Pluses:
- The cool mist evaporative wick humidification provided invisible, clean moisture into the air eliminating the need to worry about white dust or bacteria.
- Powerful performance with a small footprint was a big plus considering the lack of space to place a humidifier. Our tester was able to tuck away the humidifier neatly beside her nightstand about 3 feet from the wall.
- The built-in humidistat proved to be very accurate (within 2%) when comparing to a digital hygrometer instrument that was already present in the room. This was helpful when setting the desired humidity level.
- It immediately was noticed how quickly the unit humidified the air. Within a matter of minutes the humidity levels were at a comfortable 55%.
- The dry out mode eliminated having a soaking wet wick and base when transporting back to the office. This also meant that at the end of the season your humidifier will be completely dried out reducing the chance of bacteria and mold forming when stored away.
- The lock on the controls was a nice little feature as it will keep those curious young ones from pushing the buttons and changing the settings.
Minuses:
- On the lowest fan setting you can faintly hear the motor running
- The tank is higher in height and may not fit in smaller sinks (filling in the tub or faucet hose would do). It also features a "push, twist and lock" opening that can be cumbersome, but it does ensure a tight closure when carrying.
Summary:
The MoistAir 6-Gallon Tower Humidifier got the job done and humidified a bedroom and adjoining room quickly and effectively all while being tucked away in a corner. The humidifier was extremely easy to use and was the perfect choice for our tester who likes to set, go and have the unit do all the work. The comfortable humidity level the unit provided eliminated her dry throat and sinuses that typically come with the dry fall/winter air. As a result, another cold was successfully relieved this season!
