Surprisingly, since it wicks away moisture, wool helps to regulate one's body temperature making you feel cooler when its warm and warmer when its cool. Plus, wool is hypoallergenic and dust mite, mildew and flame resistant. All mattress covers come with a deep, fully fitted elastic skirt that fits any mattress. Choose between the wool-filled mattress cover with reversible cotton underside, or the lighter weight non-reversible mattress pad with a single plush layer of wool fleece and no additional filling. When a wool mattress pad and a wool filled comforter are used in tandem they provide the best overall result for a drier more temperature modulated rest and deeper sleep that is naturally dust mite, mold and mildew resistant.
Dry cleaning is recommended. If you choose to machine wash, you may get unexpected results which AllergyBuyersClub.com will not warranty. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Do not iron. As this product is not a sheep skin, some shedding of the pile may naturally occur during the initial cleaning process. This will not in any way affect the performance of the product and should not be of concern. Shedding of the wool pile should not occur during normal use.
Strip the bed and let the mattress be exposed to circulated air and light in order to reduce the number of dust mites present. The longer exposed and open the better. As a result accumulated moisture dries out, especially important for those with a foam mattress, and the dust mites retreat and many die off. The longer a person waits the better.
Vacuum the bed before putting the mattress pad on. Dust mites will not travel up through the wool fleece and the drier mattress is not likely to dampen because the wool fleece wicks away moisture thus providing far less opportunities for mold spores and mildew to develop on the bed.
