Your body will thank you for choosing one of Royal Pedic's 7-Zone natural latex mattresses, which combine shoulder and hip flexibility with correct support for the lower back. This 7-Zone natural latex mattress is Royal Pedic's plusher latex version. The surface of the mattress is quilted, rather than tufted - so the latex is in a more relaxed state. The Royal Latex Quilt-Top Mattress is Royal Pedic's softest available, yet still provides support due to the firmer lumbar zone preventing the spine from sagging. This mattress is also our best recommendation for a platform bed because it still contours well to the body on a hard surface. Our optional 3" thick Royal-Pedic Pillowtop Pad provides extra cushioning for the most cushy and cozy feel possible. Mattress thickness is 9.5". The overall height from the top of the mattress to the floor on our 8" box spring and 7 1/4" frame is about 25".

The mattress features our 7-Zone natural latex core, which was designed, based upon sleep studies at the Kirschgartenclinic in Basel, Switzerland by Swiss researcher and sleep specialist, Dr. Dietrich Schneider-Helmert. The 7-Zone design was found to provide optimal sleeping comfort and ergonomic support to all parts of the body.

The latex core is contained in our quilted Belgian 100% cotton covering, utilizing untreated French lamb's wool followed by hypo-allergenic Comfort Fil 7 to provide a plush and comfortable feel.

Royal-Pedic Box Spring construction is the finest available. We provide 22% more coils than is standard for extra support and durability, and have 50% more coils located in the center-third of the box spring to support the body where it's needed most.

The 7 zones mean that each section of your body needs different types of support and each has a specially chosen formulation of latex inserted to best support it. Zone 1. Head and Neck Zone This zone provides a proper level of firmness for your Head and Neck to help prevent tension and pain in the neck muscles. Zone 2. Shoulder and Upper Back Zone Because your shoulder is the widest part of your body, it requires more "give" than the hips or lower back. A hard mattress doesn't allow your shoulders to contour into the mattress, so it can cause pressure point pain and circulation problems. This zone provides the necessary softness for your shoulders to conform in comfort. For further flexibility when sleeping on your side, two half moon shaped Pressure Relaxation Channels are incorporated throughout the width of the Shoulder and Upper Back Zone. Zone 3. Lower Leg Zone
This zone features the same firmness and Pressure Relaxation Channels as the Shoulder and Upper Back Zone. It creates soft and supple support for the calf and provides comfort and pressure point relief to your feet and ankles when your knees are bent.

Zone 4. Lumbar Zone
This very important zone is essential to lower back comfort. It features the most firmness in order to provide support for the natural curve in your back and prevent the spine from sagging, thereby relieving tension and lower back pain. On average, humans carry 40% of their body weight in their midsection. Without the additional firmness of the Lumbar Zone, a soft mattress forces your spine into a hammock-like bend due to the inherent nature of gravity. Muscles become stretched and strained resulting in stiffness and pain.

Zone 5. Pelvic Zone
Hard mattresses force your hips to rest on the mattress surface, thereby causing your lower spine to bend into an uncomfortable, downward angled position.
